Downloading Geoid 2009 into Trimble Geomatics Office
- Download Geoid 09 by right clicking and selecting save target as...
- Choose “Geoid 09 Combined CONUS” or appropriate Region
- Save in appropriate folder
- Go to Windows Explorer
- Find “executable” in the folder where it was downloaded
- Run executable
- Unzip and save in appropriate folder
- Find unzipped file (it will be a .GGF file)
- Right click and “Copy”
- Go to “My Computer”
- “Local Disk (C:)”
- “Program Files”
- “Common Files”
- “Trimble”
- “GeoData”
- Right click and “Paste”
- Rename as desired (no more than 8 characters)
- Go to “Bare Bones” Trimble Geomatics Office (no job open)
- Go to “Utilities”
- “Coordinate System Manager”
- “Geoid Models” Tab
- Right click
- “Add New Model”
- Give it a name Ex.- “GEOID09 (Conus)
- Arrow down under file name and select the .GGF file you saved
- Click “OK”
- Now you are ready to use the new Geoid Model in Trimble Geomatics Office!
Downloading Geoid 2009 to the Data Collector
- Open a project in Trimble Geomatics Office
- Make sure you have “Geoid09 (Conus)” selected as your Geoid Model in “Project Properties” under “Coordinate System” tab.
- Left click on the “Export” icon (piece of paper with the corner folded over and the up arrow).
- Go to the “Survey” tab.
- “Geoid file to Survey Controller (*.ggf) and click “OK”
- “Create a subgrid of a Geoid model for export” and click “OK”
- Use the magnifying glass with the plus sign on the left side of the “Create Geoid Grid File” screen and zoom in on your state.
- Click on the arrow on the left side of the screen. Surround your“work area” on the globe with the black box (this is your “subgrid”) and click “OK”.
- You can either rename the file or use the default name and click “Save”.
- The “Save As” screen will now appear.
- Go to your Data Collector
Using “Trimble PC Communications”
- Have your Data Collector on and connected to your PC with the appropriate cable.
- In your “Survey Controller” software, go to “Files”.
- “Import / Export”.
- “Trimble PC Communications”.
- The “Waiting for PC connection” window will appear.
Using a Microsoft ActiveSync Connection
- Synchronize your Data Collector with ActiveSync
· Go back to your PC
o In the “Save As” screen, click on the appropriate device (either “Survey Controller on COM 1” or “Survey Controller on ActiveSync”).
o The “Save As” screen will appear with “Survey Controller on COM1” or “Survey Controller on ActiveSync” in the “Look in:” field.
o Click “Save”
o The “Sending…” screen appears.
o It will take several minutes depending on how big your subgrid is.
· Now you are ready to use the new Geoid Model in your data collector!
